Coach Jim Pat Darcey
Coach Darcey founded the Katy Blazin Red Track Club in 2009, as a way to get kids active and interested in track and field. Starting out with a small group, Darcey and the team encouraged kids to set goals and try new events, while keeping the focus on having fun. Coach Darcey's passion for sharing his love of track and field has touched the lives of so many. Alumni from programs he has coached over the years have gone on to compete collegiately, and some have even returned to coach. The program has grown to offer more specialization if the kids wish to improve certain skills. Darcey was an integral part of legendary coach, James Giese’s cross country program at A&M Consolidated HS. Darcey was a member of a state champion team, leading his team with a fourth place individual finish his sophomore year. Darcey went on to run cross country and track at Texas A&M University. He was a member of the 1999 National Qualifying team and ran at the NCAA Division I Championship. Coach Darcey has been a Head Track and Cross Country coach for 24 years while coaching multiple state champions in cross country and track and field.
